11 community organisations awarded Community Action Fund grants

We are delighted to announce the successful organisations who have been awarded grants in round 1 of the 2026 Community Action Fund. This programme provides grants of up to £20,000 per year, for up to three years, helping community organisations across the UK take action on the issues that matter most in their local areas.  In total, £538,000 in grants have been approved on a one-year and three-year funding basis. 

Following a strong round of applications, 11 organisations have been successful in receiving grant-funding, all delivering vital support, connection and opportunity for beneficiaries in their local area.

Three‑Year Grants Awarded

The following organisations have each been awarded funding for a three‑year term, recognising the strength, sustainability and long‑term impact of their work:

SUNDERLAND

ELCAP
A trusted community hub improving wellbeing, reducing isolation and supporting families.

FISCUS (FISCUS North Limited)
Providing free, confidential advice to help local people navigate financial hardship, housing challenges and benefit issues.

STOCKTON

Cultivate Tees Valley
Creating new opportunities for young people and adults through hands‑on environmental projects that boost skills, confidence and community pride.

GLASGOW

Birds of Paradise Theatre Company
Championing disability‑led theatre and creative inclusion, ensuring disabled artists are represented and celebrated.

LEEDS

Meanwood Valley Urban Farm
A much‑loved community farm providing education, outdoor learning and volunteering for people of all ages.

BRADFORD

Rooted In
Supporting the next generation through positive activities, mentoring and youth leadership opportunities.

Continuation funding for existing grantees as follows:

The Marie Trust
Delivering essential support for people experiencing homelessness, including crisis intervention, training and pathways into independence in Glasgow. 

Handsworth Association of Schools
Connecting schools, families and communities to improve wellbeing, education and opportunities for children and young people in Birmingham. 

One‑Year Grants Awarded

The following organisations have been approved to receive funding for a one‑year term, including new and existing organisations to be supported through the Community Action Fund:

Empire Fighting Chance
Using boxing and coaching to inspire young people in Bristol to build confidence, resilience and brighter futures.

Cafe West Community Centre
A vibrant, inclusive centre at the heart of its neighbourhood in Bradford, offering activities, advice and support for all ages.

Wesley Hall Community Centre
Providing essential services, community groups and a welcoming space that strengthens connections across the local Leicester area.

 A huge thank you to all applicants.  This was a particularly difficult funding round given the quality and breadth of the wonderful work being undertaken in the locations identified for support.  We look forward to working with our new grant recipients and sharing the impact of their projects over the coming months.
