The Breakfast Club Programme

The Greggs Foundation breakfast club programme supports young people of primary school age who live in disadvantaged areas of the UK. The Greggs Foundation currently supports 180 breakfast clubs throughout England, Scotland and Wales, providing a healthy start to the day for over 8,000 school children. Research shows that the provision of a healthy breakfast has many positive benefits from improved behaviour, concentration and achievement at schools to increased social opportunities and friendships. 

When the Greggs Foundation awards a grant to a breakfast club we give a commitment to that school of two years. In that period the Greggs Foundation provides grants for healthy food and equipment to get the club started. The grant can even be used for games and sports equipment to help children play together. Greggs also provides bread donations from the nearest shop.

The Greggs Foundation works with several partners from the private sector who sponsor breakfast clubs. If you would like to discuss sponsorship opportunities, please contact Jackie Crombie, Foundation Manager on 0191 2127626.

Eligibility
If you are interested in opening a breakfast club at your school then you must be able to show that at least 40% of your pupils qualify for free school meals and that the school serves a disadvantaged community.  You should able to attract adult volunteers to help run the scheme and attendance at the club must be free for all pupils. For further information, please contact the Foundation team on 0191 2127626.
